Michael Huddleston, DVM
With 35 years of experience, Dr. Michael Huddleston practices the kind of veterinary medicine that every pet owner wants their loved ones to receive: with exceptional care and outstanding experience, training and technologies. The Westheimer Animal Clinic was founded in 1945, and Dr. Huddleston continues to practice the principals on which it was started and for which it has been so successful. "We try to give the best service possible, and we also try to give the best quality medical attention to the patient" Dr. Huddleston says. "Our focus is on the patient."
Combining his experience with state-of-the-art equipment, Dr. Huddleston is able to not only successfully care for his patients' everyday medical needs, but also perform the majority of technical surgeries that his patients require as well. "We are a general practice that has experienced veterinarians," he says. "We do lots of surgical and medical procedures that a lot of veterinarians have to refer. We do it in-house because we have lots of equipment and lots of experience."
Dr. Huddleston and his staff truly care for each patient that comes through the doors a WAC, knowing that time is of the essence and that a network of veterinarians are available for consultation if Dr. Huddleston's experience does not immediately yield the solution. "We try to do the best for the patient," he says. "A lot of times you don't need a referral, you just need a diagnosis. We work with referral veterinarians on the phone and on the internet all the time. We send them x-rays. We consult all all over the country. What that means is, a lot of times, rather than spend extra money on a referral vet, by talking to a referral vet and picking their brains, we usually can get a diagnosis. That alone saves you money: it saves you time: but, more importantly, your little patient isn't hurting or isn't in pain or suffering as long."
Dr. Huddleston is a member of the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and American Veterinary Medical Association. With membership since 1962, Westheimer Animal Clinic is the oldest member of the American Animal Hospital Association, a voluntary association with such rigid standards that less than 4 percent of veterinarian clinics in Houston have been granted membership. Dr Huddleston also founded SAV-A PET, a charity organization that provides care and finds homes for badly injured homeless pets. |

Sharon E. Anderson, DVM
Dr. Sharon E. Anderson joined the staff of Westheimer Animal Clinic in November 2002. Growing up on a farm and ranch in South Texas, Dr. Anderson always knew she wanted to become a veterinarian. She entered Texas A&M in 1974, earning a bachelors degree from Texas A&M University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980.
She began practicing in Austin, Texas in 1980 where she worked in large and small animal practice, with sub-specialties in quarter horse breeding farms and bovine reproduction and embryo transfer, which she studied under Dr. Dewey Kramer of Texas A&M, a pioneer in embryo transfer and cloning.
After moving to Houston in 1984, she established three small animal clinics in north Houston. She is the mother of four: twins Alexis & Nicole, now juniors Texas Tech University; Michael, a freshman baseball recruit at the Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD, and Elizabeth, a junior at Memorial High School, and the 'mom' to Freebie, a Boston Terrier and several happy cats. Keeping up with her kids' baseball, golf, volleyball and school activities occupies most of her time, but in her free time, you'll probably find her outside, playing golf, salt water fishing, biking, skiing....just about any outdoor sport!
"I have immensely enjoyed working with the clientele and staff of Westheimer Animal Clinic, for many years. I have special interests in internal medicine and surgery, and enjoy consulting with Houston 'urban' ranchers on herd health management for their out of town spreads." |
